A old boat like that may not be titled . It may just have a registration. If you have the vin # or the TX # go here

apps.tpwd.state.tx.us/tora/jump.jsf

And click Query Ownership fill out the form and input the #s

That will tell you the last reg owner. You can go from there.

If there is no paperwork you may have a problem

Email me and I will try to help...done it many times

Want to "THANK YOU' TallTexan for the great info.
Got on the TPW site and looked up two boats (57 Feathercraft Vagabond ll & 58 Duracraft) and you want believe what I came up with. The 58 I bought about 50 miles from here was last reg. to a guy that lives about a mile from here. What a surprize when I knocked on his door,he was glad to help so I went to DMV, brought forms back to him to sign, back to DMV,paid $27.00ea/ vessell&motor,
Gotta wait 4 weeks for titles to be sent to him.

57 Feathercraft I looked at Mon., drove about 200m, guy was for sure he had title (notta). Got ahold of original owner and will be getting paper work to him so I can do this too!

Thanks again,
Milton

This is the form that I always get signed and notarized. It lets me go to the TP&WW office and get everything I need done at once.

www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/pwdforms/media/pwd_1055_a0900_limited_power_of_attorney.pdf

Paper worked changed to my name, address changed etc without having to have a lost blue slip made and then singed by the owner. The Limited Power of Attorney (PWD 1055) is good only for that boat on witch it is filled out for.

Make many copies. get one signed by the "REG" owner anytime you buy a boat. It stops the going back to them because something was not filled out right
