TOPIC: Rub Rail?

Rub Rail? 10 years 8 months ago #81637

Hello all,

I just picked up a 1959 Celoron with all original parts!!!!

Two questions..

1. The rub rail needs replacing.... or can it be salvaged? It has broken off at both ends and is dry and cracked along rail edge.
Does any one know if I can get a replacement or am I looking for similar and new?

2. Everything on the boat is original however I am not partial to the windshield and would not mind replacing with a Mahogany frame.
I have someone interested in purchasing it for a different MFG however despite my likes I am not sure I want to separate it.

Any ideas?

Thank you for looking/answering

John

Hey,

Today I have answered my own question about the rub rail.

I took some much needed time to myself & really looked over the boat & the rail just crumbled.

Thanks to another thread here about rub rails I hopefully found a company.

Thanks for looking

google Wefco Rubber /// they are great --- the only problem is that they only make white and black /// I used white , and my boat really exceeded expectations ... good luck

Hello gentleman,

That is the exact company I had found. Good to know they are reliable.

I unfortunately have not had the time to dive into it yet, I have been building my first plywood canoe. It is almost finished, just have to paint, install thwart & cover seats in webbing & install.

Can't wait for the test run.

Thank you for your time.
