TOPIC: Help with Boat Identification (Tri-Hull)

Help with Boat Identification (Tri-Hull) 13 years 6 months ago #17842

Dear Sir,

I have a 14-15ft gullwing/cathedral/tri-hull fiberglass boat, built probably in the 70s and I want to find out more information regarding the exact model, maker and build year and other info regarding this boat. As I am its third owner, I have no manuals/data sheets and there is no tag on the boat its self
to help identify it.

I noticed that most of the OMC/Glastron boats from the 60s-70s resemble the design of my boat but I cannot find anything online. Do note that the windscreen and colors were added by a previous owner and they are not the original, other than that the boat has no other significant modification.

I uploaded a few images here: http://gsk2005uk.pixa.us/

If you have any information even a guess about this boat please email me.

Thank you very much in advance,

George

Here's a link to the old OMC boat site:

Thank you for the reply!
I went through every picture in the site that you recommend. Although there are similarities in the design. I did not find my boat there. :( It seems that most OMC/Evinrude boats have short nose where as mine is rather large or the same in length as most non-trihull boats.

G: IF your hull was indeed made after 1971 like you believe. Two of your three questions can be answered by the upper right rear transom indented H.I.N. # .
1st THREE LETTERS are the code for manufacturer...ex LAR.

. Last TWO digits are the YEAR hull was made. .

.Post the code here or go to the coast guard website link that has been in this forum before.

Not many smallish boats like that were built with a true deep vee and 20" transom before the late 60's. As posted, look for hull I.D. Looks like it would be a fun boat with a 60-75 horse motor.

Hello and many thanks for all the replies!

As I done a lot of repair work on it, I can assure you that there are no ID tags whatsoever. Maybe removed from a previous owner.

The reason that I believe that it was built in the 70's is because the previous owner made a guess.

Can anyone list the tri-hull boat manufacturers during the 60's and 70's?

...and yes its a fun boat indeed! Currently its equipped with a two-stroke Suzuki 25hp which is good enough to go fishing:)

November 1972 was when the US Coast Guard 12 digit MIC went into effect for the first time.

No requirement of any kind for boats built prior to that time to have an ID on them.

Far too many tri-hull manufacturers to start listing them here. Have you looked through the Chrysler brochures at www.chryslercrew.com ?

Hi to all!

I had a look through the Chrysler brochures and I found nothing similar.

Since the boat found its way to Greece I would assume that it was made by a big company with large distribution network, either US or UK based company.

Any other manufacturer that you suggest?
