Just finishing the sanding of my primer coat(s), and as it is Minnesota, I'm running out of temperate weather to put the topside coats on. I'm using Awlgrip 545 primer, and am wondering, can I store the boat in primered condition, and finish in the spring, or go balls to the wall and finish now? I'm not inclined to hurry, too many hours into it now, and I don't want to screw it up. What do you all think? Thanks, Barry.

Call the Awlgrip guys in St.Louis. They'll give you all the tech support you need. They are very good at helping you use their product.

By the way, Awl Grip is nasty stuff. Use good protection when you uee it.

Barry5of9, If the primer is a 2 part urethane it will
lock up or get hard after a length of time, top coat won't
stick as well as if it was just sanded. You will have to
resand or give it a good scuff with red scotch brite in
the spring then top coat.

I LOVE to topcoat anything when the temp is between 60 and 65 degrees.. Paint flows awesome and very little orange-peel. Bugs and dust are usually reduced also..
If you get a day within that range- I'd say "paint it".. just do not rush, and wait the allotted time between coats.
