TOPIC: Plaid Boat -Whitehouse w/ stubby fins- Model?

Plaid Boat -Whitehouse w/ stubby fins- Model? 13 years 6 months ago #17484

Just got'ta boat here in the Northwest. Whitehouse w/ stubby fins and plaid sides. the plaid is cream/orange/brown. The boat is 16' long (approx.)The outboard is by Sea King.
I found a picture of this similar boat (ours is longer, has a shorter plaid space and a windshield).
I've gotten dates(from the family) ranging from mid 1950's - late 1960's.Curious about year and model name. We are getting some work done on it. As soon as it is done we will be able to post some more pictures.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have a Whitehouse. Bigger pictures and more angles will help.

We have some body work being done so I can't get any extra photos right now. Any ideas? I've done a lot of looking on net and these photos are the only ones I've found of anything close. Seats inside are molded fiberglass. bar seat in the back and 2 seats up front.

Looks like a late 50's model to me. I don't think they made fins like that in the 60's.

The picture of the blue boat is named "1958_Scout"..

So I'll go out on a limb and say your's is a 1958.. This 1959 list from the library- is likely similar to '58. Take some measurements- and yu might be able to deduce what Model you have:

Also, 99% of (production) "finned" boats were made between 1956-1961. As were most automobiles.

Looking at the Whitehouse pages in the Glassics Library.. you can almost deduce that 1958 should be accurate. Most photos of the later boats- do NOT have a bow-handle. They have the Nav-light up front. They also have a different fore-deck design, and started adding a "sweep" to the gunwale.

BTW- That plaid is available in Sign-Vinyl...

AFTER your restoration.. You will also need to start a "Scotch-Plaid" cooler collection.. to carry in the boat with you...
Here's "part" of our collection- The "Tower-of-Plaid"

The two boats pictured were originally posted here and at the CBH:

fiberglassics.com/glassic-forums/main-forum/i-think-i-know-what-it-is#13620

This boat was probably made from 1956 to at least 1957. In 1956, this could have been either the Deluxe Capri or Deluxe Sea Rocket- I am not sure of the difference between these models or if these model names were carried on to 1957 or later. For how often Whitehouse boats turn up, we certainly need more original information about these boats.

Below are some images of the 1956 Whitehouse brochure- I believe I saved these images from Ebay:

That model will look pretty neat AND unique with the plaid sides. I'd say it will be a one of a kind!

I had a '57 without the plaid insets, and it was a great-handling boat and one of the fastest boats on our lake on the Tennessee River.
