TOPIC: '69 Fabuglas... Interior 1/2 done

Worked some on the Fabuglas this weekend..
Got the inside of the boat sprayed with Smart-Truck-bed-liner material. This kind can be tinted- so I added some of the yellow basecoat. I sprayed the splashwell and the cabin bulkhead. I'm not sure what color I'll paint the cabin door yet.
Had to make up a channel for the door to slide in. I used a small aluminum angle, and inserted some automotive window track, The door slides kinda stiff right now- but I tried to make it pretty tight. I still have to install some stainless strips to hold the carpet edges down.
I've been experimenting with cleaning the old vinyl. It has some serious staining in the grain. I have tried oven cleaner, drain cleaner (NaOH), and Laundry soap... They got it "clean" but didn't remove the staining.
Urethane Reducer and a red Scotchbrite pad works well... IF you only do a small area at a time, and wipe with a clean cloth. It looks like that's the way to go. I may dye the vinyl anyway to get an even color.

I'm not sure I like the captains chairs that were in the boat when I got it. It's nice that they fold down out of the way.. but I'll probably rarely use that feature. I may buy a new set of pedestals this spring.

The grey carpet is the same as I used in the MFG several years ago. I'm happy with how it lasted. I got it at Lowes... for $5.88 for 12 sq ft.

I still have one inner side, and the bench seat to carpet. Maybe tomorrow.
