TOPIC: Tuckerton Boat Launchs

Tuckerton Boat Launchs 13 years 7 months ago #14883

Hey Guys,

Long time, no see. I was hoping to launch Penny (1959 Cuttter Avon with her 59 Evinrude 35hp Lark) at the Tuckerton Show this weekend.

It will be the first time she's taken a trip (short as it may be) in over 30 years. She's been in the water to switch trailers, the motor has run, but we never launched her to take a ride.

My husband and daughter just got their boating licenses, but have no experience on the water. They'll be directed by my dad, Don.

This should be fun. I think I'll wait on shore;)

Anyway, any info on which Tuckerton launch is closest and easiest for a 17 foot boat, and the best time to launch?

Thanks :)

Penny,
Would love to see some more pics of your boat - looks very similar to mine - a 67 cobia

Sweet! I have a fondness for red and white boats on blue water

Sweet, I think the colors are great - I just waxed mine up last weekend and took it out on Monday and it looked even better

will see you there. i think theres a launch by the Stewarts Root beer stand. don't forget thats salt water in the creek. i would advise you to flush the motor after you pull her out. we will be arriving tomorrow around noon. ron

Hey Ron,

I hope I can still get a slip. I was going to skip the show this year because the mechanic's bill for making sure all was perfect for launch was almost $1,000. I almost fainted!

Plus we got a nice brand new trailer with rollers. Also a major hit.

But this may be our last chance this year to get it in the water.

Yes, I know it's salt water, but I don't care anymore. I just wanna get Don in the damn boat because it's all he talks about anymore

See you there. Please don't laugh if we have trouble moving it around.

hehehe... thanks.

Now that my husband has taken a sudden interest in Penny (after all the work and money was put into her) He better learn how to pilot her without doing damage

Well, how did the PennyCandy's maiden voyage (I guess technically it would be called re-launch) go? We're dying to see pics and hear all about it!

Oh... it all went well.I stayed grounded. My husband made it through the canal without indecent.

I must say Maritime Marine in Tuckerton had a great launch. If fact, they had two. One for high tide and another for low tide.

But I did a stupid thing. I thought I'd be nice and hook the trailer up and have it waiting for my husband when he brought the boat back, but I didn't know he'd put a bicycle lock on it. Of course it broke and did a little damage to the wheel. (minor)

Anyway, here's Candy in water.
