I found this this weekend.
The dates on the photos are incorrect.
The gentleman says its a 1954 Boeing that was built for an employee that was retiring in 54.
He said that he is the 5th owner and when he got it there was a 1948 Ford pickup flathead in it.
I asked him if he was interested in selling and he told me that six years ago he went to the local recycler and asked if they would take the aluminum and they thought that there was around $600 worth. So he said if I had $600 cash, thats what he would take.

Pretty cool old lummie! Definitely can see the aircraft builders theme in the construction. It would be a shame to see that one go to the recyclers.

I thought it odd that there are no reg. numbers or stickers.
When I stopped to inquire about the boat, the guy was playing an afternoon round of cards with 4 other gentleman. (I thought one of them was called Jim Beam, but I may be wrong!!) I did not want to take up alot of his time so I asked if I could take a couple of pictures and stop back by sometime and he thought that would be fine.
There may be some very interesting history.
There may even be a thread dedicated to us all just guessing how many rivets are in the thing, if he would let me count them!
When I get more info I will get it posted.

That's a nice boat. I cannot believe people leave these boats laying around. You would think someone in their family would do something with it. The boat appears almost perfect. I mean how hard is it to replace a piece of marine plywood for the transom & seats and mount an engine & battery....No metal work required. Oh, don't forget the new plug! ..You bought it right? - Einsteinlivesintexas

Oops...forgot it was an inboard....maybe a little more motor skills. I got too excited. I hope you purchased the boat...enjoy.

I have one of those (a flat-bottom, cabin cruiser of a different brand) to rebuild... Mine is a little more complicated...I have metal work to complete. I have to cut-out & replace a section of the keel. It also has some slight leaking riveted sections to repair. - Einsteinlivesintexas

True, Neil. I think GA started using registration numbers in the late fifties, early sixties. Not sure, other states may have been different. Could be it never got registered for whatever reason ??? Any signs of use on the hull? Might be worth a trip back, bring "Jim" a bottle of "Beam", and pick his brain a little. Bet he's take a little less $ for instant gratification, if you catch my drift. LOL

Cool cruiser Einstein, be sure to keep us posted on your project.

No I haven't bought it yet. But it may be in the near future.
That looks to be a cool old cabin cruiser. What year and make?

I will get back to visit him soon. The boat has been sitting for a looooong time. I am hoping to see his paperwork and see how it was reistered before and spend some time looking for any I.D. markings on the hull. Digging back to where and when it was made might be a fantastic journey in itself.
Did you see the rivets on the bottom? Not a real drag reducing feature.
