TOPIC: Hang on & drive

Here you can do a virtual drive of a rare Reinell. Sadly, this was her last run until she gets a transom replacement. Shasta was beat up badly this weekend, but with that long bow - it was tolerable. Would have been impossible in most glassics. The transom just can't take another run like this though, and this is a boat you just can't go slow in. So, I'm pulling the engine to prevent temptation to take it out any more.

The old Starflite is a real firebreather since I put in the Pertronix ignition. It doesn't smoke, doesn't load up, and will idle smooth & slow without a sputter. Best of all, it goes like hell. It loafs along at 25mph, then you can see I open it up & it hits 40 in no time. The speedo is 5 mph slow, we checked it against GPS, top speed with just me in the boat is 41mph.

That is awesome ! I would love to see you outrun the Jetskis !

Bruce, what kind of motor on the Starflite did you install Pertonix in?

That looks to be about the same vintage as my Golden Meteor 100, about a '66? Do you know what Pertronix kit you purchaced for that motor? I would love to get mine to run like that.

I modded the disto to use a kit designed for a VW. It is very clean & reliable. I may take orders from people interested in buying modded units ready to install & run. The machine work is minimal, from the outside it looks stock. The hard part is indexing the trigger ring on the disto shaft - it has to be exact. I use a degree wheel & a jig that I made up. When I dropped the modded unit on the old 75 it ran perfect & I haven't touched it since.

hard to tell from the vid clip but what are you getting for speed? Do you have a trim unit for that motor? Your boat is my screen background. it is just too darn cool not to be.
