this afternoon was me hitting the deck. I stopped by BOW to see if some parts came in. They were also checking on these little Taylor Made windshield mounts.

$172.00!!! for a set of 4.

Does anyone know of another mfg? I've been watchin' ebay for months and saw not a one. I do have the 3 needed that came on the boat, mismatch 2+1. In very poor condition, but could be restored to look nice.

C.F. : I thought we had some prior posts on those windshield mounts, but could not find any sources in the search. I believe CROSBYBOAT has some info source on that part , or some old stock , but do not know any $$. Could send him a PM.?

Taylor Made still lists them in the 2010 catalog but I have not been able to get them from anywhere. Several online vendors said they still had them and after 2-3 months finally call and say they can not get them. I installed a set on my Playmaster two years ago and they were only $22 for a pack of four. They are a chrome plated material that is about 3 times softer than plastic and broke all three that I installed he second time out in the boat. Have seen some on E-bay for $45-50 but if they only last two times, I need another solution.

A temporary solution I did was to find some 90 degree L-brackets that didn't look too cheesy, and re-bent them to match the angle. Some rubber or nylon washers, stainless steel bolts, and they work great. Oh, certainly not show quality, but they hold.

Why couldn't we all use something like this?

or:

They are Stainless Steel, small, polished, and once you have 3-4 of them installed, the hinges won't operate anyway... but they will hold the windshield stable. $5-$10 each.

That is what is holding my windshield in place on my Sleekcraft daycruiser. And you are right, because of the curve, they do not operate as a hinge.

Neil..
Got any pics? I'm having a hard time visualizing what they look like near the weatherstrip at the bottom. Did you have to cut the weatherstrip to fit flush?

Wow. I've got a set of 3 with two of the Taylormade lightning bolt corner pieces. Guess those are keepers.

Here are the shots of the hinges.
The dates are incorrect, these were taken this morning, dust and all.
It gives you the general idea, it can be vastly inproved on.
But they do work.
