TOPIC: 1964 Lone Star Medallion

1964 Lone Star Medallion 1 year 8 months ago #147087

Greetings to all. Thank you for having me in this forum. I’ll do my very best to conform to the proper procedures and etiquette.
I have a 1964 Lone Star Medallion I have stripped to the bone. It’s in great shape. I need the floor patterns and some advice concerning the transom. It needs replacement but I do not want to remove and replace all the buck rivets necessary to properly insert a new transom board. I know I can remove the old one no problem. Just wondering about a possible procedure to go in with some sort of replacement without the partial deconstruction and rebuild of the vessel. I may be hated for this but I intend to modernize her into a good bay boat with only a 40 hp outboard on her. I’m not a go fast kind of guy. Just a fisherman. I will use as modern and efficient equipment I am able to find and utilize. I have a good metal lathe and good shop equipment for metal and wood working and a decent skill set to use them. I’m no expert by any means though. I was thinking about upright planks of marine ply or equivalent connected with horizontal cross members. I’m thinking I can jiggle the uprights into place. The horizontals should be fairly easy. Before I stripped her my good buddy and I took her out often on Aransas Bay with only a 15 hp Johnson. Yeah we did get some looks but we were out there with the “big” boys pulling in the fish. My pride went out the window a long time ago so no problem there. Anyway I’m privileged to be here with fellows and hope I can add something positive to the community. Thanks to all.
