TOPIC: Request for members, 5 year pitch for donations!

I don't like to panhandle... and don't recall ever asking for donations before. However, I have a US patent office renewal that could use a little help. What the patent does is protect the name FiberGlassics. I realize this isn't a huge thing in the big picture but I'd like to renew it for another 5 years. It's $890 as you can see on the image. I'll contribute to it but could use a bit of help since this is a hobby, not a business for me. Once the goal is reached, I'll unsticky this message. I appreciate all of the members here whether you donate or not!

I am embarrased to say that the notice above is not from the official US Patent office: just from a company that poses as and looks like the government office. Thanks to a vigilant member who tipped me off. I will check with the real office on Tuesday to find out the actual costs and post here.

To the members who donated already: I am refunding the donations also.

I find it ironic that me, a computer guy, was almost scammed! Of course, when you don't deal with a system but every 5 years, maybe that's why I didn't research it carefully! Lesson learned!

My embarrasment continues.... it's only $125 to renew through the legitimate patent and trademark office. I'm going to use this as a lesson learned: slow down, read and question what I get in the mail and on the web.
