Can someone please look at the pictures of my boat and tell me if they know the make and model? I have goggled it to death and have yet to find it. The guy I got it from said 55 or 57. All I know is it has a 25 HP Johnson, Fiberglass, Front steer, used to have windshield, and has two built in fiberglass bench seats.

It has some features that scream out Tomahawk as the builder and Ranger as the model. Might need daytime pictures. Does it have the tag that gives hp and weight ratings?

I will try and upload some daytime pic tomorrow. I didn't get anything but a bill of sale. I was going to try and look up the 88 registration info with NC since it had that. I just found out the the motor is a 1954 25HP Johnson. Does it have a serial number or ID number anywhere that I could find?

Here are some new pics. Also I measured the boat and it is 57" x 160". No more then 40hp motor and 800 pounds. Has an Outboard Boating Club of America label with one number on the left and R69 on right. Might not be a R but definitely a 69. Is that the year?

All the info you have provided still doesn't rule out a Tomahawk Ranger. I can't find any pictures of one that help lock it in or out. If it is a Ranger it would be '59 to '62. I have some tricks to tell the years on Skimates but nothing for a ranger.

Thx, The reason I am trying to figure it out is there used to be a windshield on it and I would like to replace it with the original frame or something close. I like the classic look.

If you look in the glassic library under Tomahawk there is a brouchure that shows the side view of the ranger with the windshield.

I found it. It's a 1963 Tomahawk. You were on the mark.

This company was purchased by Harley Davidson in 1962 so does this make this a Harley Davidson boat? If so is it more collectible?

I suppose in addtion to people interersted in classic boats, you have opened the door to people interested in Harley Davidson ephemera. That gives you a wider audience of potential interested parties.

There never was a "Harley Davidson Boat" company. It always was Tomahawk Boat Manufacturing Company and after 1962 or 1963 it was a subsidiary of Harley Davidson Motor Company.

I have no idea of the value of your boat.

Now I'm confused. The NC wildlife has this boat registered as a 1963 Tomahawk but I just saw a picture at:

www.fiberglassics.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1388&p=6741&hilit=tomahawk#p6741

It looks just like my boat. Thoughts?

How can I contact gdanderson?

I tried a PM but it sits in the Outbox. I can't reply to this forum I assume it is because it was archived.

Do not put much trust in paperwork related to boats such as title, bill of sale, and registration. These are notorious for being inaccurate.

You must use the clues from the boat itself to attempt a proper identification.

Patience is a virtue when it comes to identification of a "mystery" boat.

It is aggravating. I don't see why they didn't but a stamp or something with Model numbers back in the good old days.

You may contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. You do have a Tomahawk Ranger. The Ranger was exactly the same for 5 years. If you have paperwork saying it is a 1963 you might as well go with it because the boat was the same 1959 through 1963.

Thank you. So now I can look for a windshield in that date range. Most of the ones I find are too wide and won't work on this boat. I will just have to keep my eyes open for one 54" wide.
