TOPIC: 61 Thompson restoration on utube

Check out this utube video of the reatoration of a 1961 Thompson Boat (Peshtigo) 17' Sea Lancer by father and son team Roger and Erik Johansen:

The boat won "People's Choice" award at the Lake Vermilion (MN) classic boat show last weekend. It beat out the inboard Chris-Craft and Century boats!!!!!

I restored a similar '61 Sea Lancer a few years ago, so I know their pain!

Andreas

Andreas,
Great video thanks for posting it. Not going to hijack this thread but I do have a question- Is that rubrail the same as what is on your boat?

Bob

No, correct rub rail on the 1961 line of Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co.was aluminum, maybe 3/4" wide. That's what I used on the boat I restored.

For the 1962 models Thompson started using the combination white vinyl/alumium rub rail. That's what these folks used on their boat.

Andreas

OK, thanks.

That would be alot of fun to restore a wooden boat. Wood boats are a different can of worms then fiberglass.
Thanks for posting that nice video, Mike

Inspiring! great job. I will probably be in the motor rebuild program. I have a 71 85hp Evenrude. Can you give me any details?

Great Video!!!!!!

Congrats on the win!!!
