TOPIC: Private message banner?

At the bottom of some forum pages, I get a colorful banner that says I have 2 private messages. It doesn't have the look of a forum notification, looks more like an ad. It has a couple of buttons, one says view and one is a little envelope icon. I normally don't click on those type of links. Anyone know, is this really a PM notification, or just an ad with links that will take me to a software download or something?

Just click on the member's icon you want to send the message to Frog, that will take you to their Profile page. There you will see some buttons along the top, one of which is "send email". If you click that a message window pops up to type and send an email.

When you receive it there will be a message in your email inbox, just like a regular email. I sent you one just now.
