Wish I could find and post old pictures: One friend had a 1967 110 tall merc on his (he called it "Pokey")...the other was unreal...guy put a 350 cu.in. small block Chevy and V-drive in when it was almost new. Smack of the throttle and he could jump the boat from an idle to the transom 3' off the water! hit about 85mph and crazy quick. I think that boat still exists in that form.
