TOPIC: how many splines

anyone know how many splines are on my 62 merc 700, and whether its rh or lh? also the diameter. i had this written down somewhere but you know how that goes. i want to get the next size higher in pitch. i think mine is a 19 pitch and is turning 5000rpm. did i count 15 splines?

you dont want the next higher pitch it will bring the rpm's down to 4700-4800 you want to gooe the other way to bring it up to 5200- 5500rpm so if yours is 19 you want 17.
