As far as I am aware all 850XS's were ADI. All the ones I have seen & owned were/are. They were all short shaft & all had a low water pickup under the 'bulb' of the gearcase instead of above it as is normal. The powerhead, unlike the 1500XS (& especially) the 650XS were standard units wheras the 1500 was putting out about 155hp & the 650 90hp!! The 650xs, which ran a smaller gearcase did not have a low water pickup.

The idea (wth the 850XS & 1500XS)was to run them on a longshaft transom to reduce drag, hence the low water pickup, which apparently didn't work too well if the motor was trimmed out a long way.

I don't know if they were available with a pump, I suspect not as it goes against the principle of the XS range.
