I got past the understanding part but now the big question is, are the plastic ends that hold the spring loaded holder replaceable? If they are where should I look for replacements? The ends that attach to engine levers. Thanks Dave

yes they are.on old merc cables there are allen pins that hold them on.dont know if they are after market.the merc ends will fit most after market.
