The wires and insulation for the stator are crumbling and corroded. It goes right to the base of the stator, so I am assuming it needs to be replaced. Are the after market parts as good as the Mercury parts? There is quite a difference in price. Is it worth thinking about a used part, or am I looking for more problems down the road?
