TOPIC: 1960 Sabre Craft Impella 17

Ahoy everyone,
I’m a car guy, totally new to boats and boating.
I’ve dreamed for years, but stuff kept getting the way.
Well things have a way of coming about…

This is newly acquired free boat!
A 1960 “SABRE CRAFT, Impella 17” riding on a 1960 “CALKINS”, powered by a 1960 “GALE V SOVEREIGN” 60 hp.
I was only 5 yrs old when this boat rolled of the line in Tacoma, Wash
Suggested Retail; $1395.00 FOB

Of course the seats had rotted.
Enough remained though to provide patterns for reconstruction.
Missing parts seem to be minimal; A light mast, a deck tie down (like the one shown) and the 2 alum trim cover piece at top of transom.

The thermostat was missing along with a few other pieces that have been ordered. I did have to remove the carb to clean out a wasp nest. (note the wear or lack of, on the flywheel teeth).


This little dude is proving to be allusive. Anyone have one?

The little dude I was refering to is the boat harness plug for the electrical socket on side of the motor near the shift lever.

Welcome aboard, sounds like a great project. Your picture posting problem may be because they're too big. You'll probably have to open them with Microsoft Paint and resize them. I usually resize them to 980x650 pixels and they post fine,
