Friends,

Did Johnson Outboard motors in 1958 ever come from the factory WITHOUT the name JOHNSON on the sides of the cowling?

I bought a FDE-12 (the 18hp) that has NO sign of ever having had the JOHNSON decals on the cowling sides AND the paint on the OB looks "factory" & otherwise "correct".
(The rest of the decals are there & show signs of being original/correct.)
