TOPIC: Wiring the dash

Wiring the dash 13 years 1 week ago #77929

Hi everyone, I just bought a 1975 IMP Aztec inboard 225 merc boat and the owner before me must have added a radio and a few other electronic items but when he took out the items he did not re wire it back wires all over along with different color wires my question does any one have wiring diagram for the dash.
Thanks Vince

There are no wiring diagrams. You either start from scratch, remove all wiring that is not connected to gauges etc. or trace the wiring from the battery or gauges. Everything is either positive/negative which is not hard to figure out and you may have some speaker wires scattered in there which you can trace from the speakers. Take your time and you will be fine.

+1

I've always found it easier to start from scratch than try to untangle what's already there. Even if no one else has had their fingers in it, the factory wiring jobs are generally not the neatest installations in the world.
