TOPIC: Glassic forms and brands of Propulsion units

I thought it would be fun if everyone sent pictures of the engines, drives etc of all of the different propulsion brands and forms.
Here is what I was thinking;
Outdrives on I/Os. I can think of the following brands...OMC, Mercruiser, Volvo, Chrysler, Eaton etc.
Jet drives. Berkely, Jacuzzi, Chrylser, Hamilton/Buehler, Upson, Panther etc.
Outboards that used unusual confugurations....The Scott/McCulloch powerhead with the outdrive under the hull,Fageol brand that used this version along with the cable steering.
Outboards, maybe pictures of what made them stand out in their day,etc.
May be fun to see all of these that we would not ordinarily know of..

American Marc Inc. 9.25 HP Diesel outboard. They advertised it as a safe alternative to a gasoline (explosive) engine. Unfortunately, they were very heavy for the power produced.

I have never heard of the American Marc Diesel Outboard. Cool! That has to be extremely rare!

Reo trollabout

I have one and should have it up and running this weekend This is as I found it. It cleaned up nice and I have a running motor for it. The motor on the unit has spark (I found that while removing it and turn the pulley with my hand was on the plug)

Still my personal favorite. I doubt if I could keep a boat on plane very long, however. (not mine, but I wouldn't mind having one)

Don't forget BMW outdrives,,
I just saw this on craigslist and thought it could be included.
They were hooked up to and inline 6.

I think they were made as BMW in the 70's, and that sometime in the 80's BMW sold their marine division to Mercury. Mercury Marine dealers can still get parts for them. BMW had 4 and 6 cylinder gas, and a bunch of different diesel marine engines.
I was given a 7hp diesel BMW sailboat motor once.
Ended up trading it for something..

For a short time in the early '80s BMW made a DIESEL I/O set-up BUT nobody was much interested in it. - 110HP if i remember correctly.

As I'm scared of FIRE out on the salt, I like diesel engines IF i'm out of sight of land.

It's a 1955 that was the only year that Reo made boating items.
It is installed on a 1953 Lone Star

Way cool! I had no idea that Berkely made those for JEGOS. I cannot believe how much I have learned in this thread!

Here is an interesting one.

I nearly bought that Berkley unit for the lark on the 600
but the guy wanted a stiff price and didn't know if it worked
properly so I decided not to take the chance on a 50 year old
questionable unit I might not be able to get parts for.

We bought a used jet unit for a 1970 115 Hp Evinrude as to run in the bays. It took for ever to get on top burn more fuel and less speed.

Later we found out that you cut your hp in 1/2 using a jet. It went for sale the next weekend the guy that we beat to it got it for the same price we paid. I saw that later he had it for sale
