TOPIC: Steury Steering

Steury Steering 13 years 11 months ago #63174

I've got a 1964 steury 414 and I want to update the steering from the old pulley style to something newer and easier to steer. Any suggestions or replacement kits? Thanks!

I replaced the cable steering on my '61 Glasspar with a teleflex rotary helm, it was a pretty easy conversion, and a MUCH better setup. All you need to do is measure to get the correct cable length, and decide how you are going to install/mount it- Much of that decision will be determined by how your boat and motor are configured. The Merc that I have had a steering tube on it, so it was an easy connection. You may need to modify the motor a bit, or add a mount to it, depending on what you've currently got.
