Looking at the Mastercraft brochure in the library, I wonder if they used to launch boats from a dock/deck as suggested in this picture:

Seems it would be difficult at low tide to retrieve that puppy.

That's some real nice 50s artwork for sure. I'd imagine that dock setting in the ad just made for a nice way to frame up the trailer in center stage. Note the lack of bright color in the ad, with the exception of the trailer. They did a lot of graphic work like this in the 40s, 50s, 60s.

Notice that's a tilting roller trailer. I would assume a boat would be winched on to the tilting section which then tips to set the boat onto the trailer itself. All without dunking the trailer.

No real parallels in modern boat trailers as boats have become much larger and heavier since the '50s.
