Out-of-date Gel coat

If it looks OK in the can and wasn't too terribly far past the expiration date, I'd probably use it. Anything more than maybe a year past and I'd say 'no thanks'... especially if it was in a less than ideal temperature controlled environment.

$15.00 qt for expired gel coat is not that cheap. The gel coat kits how many oz is the gel coat in the kits?

You can buy it new, in date, for $60 a gallon, why buy expired?
