TOPIC: 62 Dorsett Catalina

Hi all !! !
New to site, been looking for awhile!!
OK I am looking at a 62 Dorsett Catalina with dual 35`s
I know almost nothing about boats, but am willing to learn !!
What do I look for in this boat for problems ?
how do I check the hull ?? or weak spots ?
It appears to be a good deal ,but ??

We like pictures.
First check the transom. with the motor down push hard against the lower unit. look for flexing of the transom. look for cracks where it has been stressed. has the boat been in use? you can also use a hammer to lightly tap around on the transom. like looking for a bad watermelon. thud is bad. start by any of the holes that go through the gelcoat.
Next the floor/stringers. you can only see the floor but if it is soft the stringers are usually not far behind.
Anything is fixable but you have to consider the cost. I am planning on buying a wreck because I would rather have the peace of mind that I fixed that stuff. So I will pay later with time and materials but it would make me sick to pay big bucks and then have to replace the transom later anyway. My thoughts.
