Back in the olden days we used this method to fill bolt holes in the transom. Drill the hole for good wood usually 1/2 inch. coat hole with fiberglass resin. Soak proper size dowl in resin. Drive dowl into hull before its resin is hard. Finish with Kitty hair or other filler and paint. I have taken transoms apart and this has seemed to work very well. Is there an advantage to the beveling and filling that seems to be the prederred method todaY?
