TOPIC: Identifying a derelict boat

I need help identifying a boat, but I do not know how to place a picture in a post. Any help?

Well, I guess I figured out how to post a picture.

I have always had an interest in restoring an old boat and always loved the classic look of the mid 1950’s boats whose style followed the trends of the automobiles of that era. I recently found a derelict boat hidden in the wood off of a local highway. It looks like something I would be interested in however, I have no information on the boat. My guess would be that it is 1957 model based on the fins on the back. Does anyone have any idea of the year and manufacturer of this boat is?

Boy Split, your good. I've been looking myself and found the Glastron 17 fireflite, but is just wasn't exactly right. The Glastron had the same return of the gunnel behind the front seats, but the area in front of the engine was a deck. The boat I looked at did not have the deck, it had another return as if there was another row of seats. That is exactly what the Redfish 15' Shark - 2 seater has. I had one more picture and it is of the stern, and it pretty much matches the lay-out of the Shark. What do you think?

I have two. The red one is I believe a 57 and the blue one is a 59. Notice the finns have a panel in them on the 59. I'm not sure if there were more than one model in the same year. Good luck they are great boats.

I suspect your blue Shark is actually a 1960/61.
I don't think the 1959 models had that panel.

I would love to rebuild that boat and use it on my lake, but my wife would probably banish me to the garage.

The boat is located on a wooded lot with no houses around only a storage building that is all grown over. I have researched the property and I found the owner and his address and he live about 30 mile away.

The boat is in pretty bad shape and I know the transom is in bad shape, but I would like to take a closer look. I kinda tresspassed to get up close to take the picture so I didn't stick around too long. The boat appears to have been there for quite a long time. Also there was another boat next to it (Picture below) I would think that these boats could be aquired for next to nothing. They are on trailers, but I have no idea of the condition.

My guess is your photo is CMYK - it needs to be RGB to post on the web...

Captain Dave, I have been banished to the garage so long I have forgotten what my home looks like. The secret is to build a really nice garage or "Dog house" and complain about having to be there. Get a good stereo, TV for sports and of course a well stocked fridge, with these few things you can get through it.

I am in Idaho, so I it will not work for me.
If you think the boat is salvagable, it may be one just to have in your back pocket for a later project.
Saving the old girl, if feasible, is top priority. Even if it is just to pass it to someone else.
