TOPIC: 1969 Glassapar Citation "Bimini"

1969 Glassapar Citation "Bimini" 3 weeks 2 days ago #149166

Hi all -- I'm new to the forums.
I purchased a 1969 Glasspar Citation and have been restoring it. The bimini cover -- which I understand covers enough of the boat to turn it into a bit of a tent -- is unusable. I have the aluminum frame -- which has been poorly kept together, but probably usable. I'm looking now for a place that can make a new cover. It's been a lower priority, but now that I'm about to get her on the water, I'd love to know what my options are!
Thanks,
Caleb

I don't know where you are at. Ask around local marinas & you'll get recommendations.
Fabric shop will need your boat & frame on hand to make it. It won't be cheap.

Thanks. I guess since I have the old one as a template, they can copy that. The online resources I've found don't make one specifically for this boat -- just a typical bimini -- while this is a low-profile "tent" that snaps to the windshield. Well, BOAT == Break Out Another Thousand.

If you do top, sides & back section you'll probably neeed 2 thousand.

If you decide to go generic bimini, keep the parts you have for the future.

Thanks for the plug Terry.

I live in the Milwaukee,WI area and worked with Dean Steger at Boat Tailors Ltd in Sturtevant, WI.
They used my original top to pattern the new top. I appreciated the knowledge of different materials and options offered.

I would suggest you work with a partner that can work directly on your boat.

Good luck!

Brad
