We have several sections for outboard motors but we inboard afficionados have no place to discuss the problems/solutions and peculiarities of inboard engine installations, operation and trouble-shooting. A section for inboard motors might be a welcome addition to many and it could cover all types of inboard engines...Ford, Chevy, Chrysler and AMC based, flatheads and all types of inboard transmissions. Something to consider Ken?

Yes...that's what I had in mind. Inboards have their own set of requirements and problems. There are a lot of collectible boats built in the 1960s and 70s with inboard engines. Admittedly, the smaller ones are usually ski boats but some are just "go devils" with no particular specialty i.e., Donzis. Lots of things could be discussed: re-powering, substituting different make or larger engines; Paragon vs Velvet Drive vs PCM transmissions, etc. An inboard section could also prove to be a help to stern drive guys with their engines/problems.

Thanks Cal. I could put that Velvet drive manual to use fairly soon. I have about 7 or 8 of them sitting around collecting dust. I've never had to rebuild one but I think that time is coming soon. Still have my address?

If I ever get the time and energy (at the same time) I'll post a lot of the info I have to the Glassic Library.

Purely a blatant case of age and class discrimination. Wood inboards were around before Columbus and the Vikings. Glass and steel inboards evolved to become toys of the upper class. Something ought to be done.

As soon as I saw this thread, I started looking for a copied manual for a universal Unimite 4 that I have (out of a 1953 Lyman Islander) to have scanned and get ready for upload if the section forum came to be ? From what I'm told ? it is the same motor of a model B Chris Craft motor ?

Hey I have a few vintage glass inbords ( Resorter and Arabian) I've restored and am running along with the old outboards so you are not alone!
I do find them way simpler which is an endearing quality but still, questions arise. I think it would be a worthy category so specific questions isssues etc. don't get lost in the general forum.

A good thread like this might really help someone who may have always wanted an inboard, but never knew much about the marine engine mechanics (nor mechanics of direct or V-drive, stuffing boxes, alignment so it does not vibrate, etc, etc.) They were always catching my eye...LOVE the sound...skied behind a ton of different inboards (and always love going to the wooden boat shows). They are all amazing in their own right. I sure loved the sound when a guy fired up his twin 440 mopar inboards...one v-8 is already pretty sweet to hear...I had never heard 2 in the same classic wood boat before - Lots of WOW tied to those docks...and then when they all glide away with the sun shining through that American flag on the back - very classy in my book. I would follow a thread on inboards! Just my "wanna be" thoughts.

A couple of my favorite glass direct drives. Of course I love the wooden inboards, the exotic speedy ones and the home built modifieds...I just do not have the resources, talent, nor space for them. That is why I really appreciate going to shows and appreciate owners even more for sharing their beauties!
