TOPIC: Short shaft jet kicker on long transom.

Short shaft jet kicker on long transom. 10 years 6 months ago #111888

I have a1961 alumacraft queen merrie that I'd like to put a kicker on for some slow trolling, docking... I have 3 running short shaft motors already. A late 40s Elgin 2 hp. A west bend Commodore 2. And the last is a Clinton apache with a propulsion research jet drive lower unit. I'm thinking of using the jet. It's cool, it's unique, and it appears the water to the jet comes more from the bottom direction then the front. I feel like this would work better than the prop motors for my long shaft setup. Anyone have any input on this? I don't think a Jack plate will work because the steering arm would hit my transom.
Here's a pick of the lower unit. If I could I'd find a long shaft leg and drive shaft for it but I'm unsure if they made the Clintons long.
