I'm working on my 1960 Gale 35 hp and have some wiring questions

1. My black wire that goes to the small terminals on solenoid are the white wires pictured in the diagram correct?

2. this motor does not have a magneto, do i still need 2 black wires going to the "m" terminals of the switch as shown in diagram?
