1955 25 short shaft? 7 years 6 months ago #127076

I have a 1955 rd 17. short shaft. I need to make it a long shaft. will the shaft and spacer from a 62 40hp long shaft electric shift work? thanks Bob.

Those parts are not interchangeable, a part from an early 60's 28 or 33 would fit as these are non thermostat engines and of course anything from 55-57 25-35hp will fit and non superquiet 58's

Post a WTB ad at the Antique Outboard site. Those fellers will have everything you need.

Bob - I have a '57 Big Twin I bought as a project as the engine was siezed. I took off the bottom, and that is fine, but the top is still locked-up solid. Not sure if the bottom is SS or LS, but I can measure it for you and see if it works.

Just let me know. Some pics of it here:

ok we went up to the lake to close down the cabin this week. we stoped at Tim,s outboard in Hackinsack mn. and he had all the parts to convert the 25 to long shaft motor. Mike has lots of parts for old and new outboards. Bob
