TOPIC: THE LAST OF THE 40HP OMC BIG-TWINS

I got an email today from a boarding-school chum, who asked me the following question, which I had NO answer to: "What year was the last year the Johnnyrude 40-horse BigTwins had points, condensers & coils?"

I told "Bob" that I would ask our REAL EXPERTS, as one or more here will KNOW.

Should be the 1983 "RS" and "RW" models.

THANKS. - I just KNEW that someone would KNOW the correct answer.
(I suspect that "Bob", like me, doesn't want a "modern outboard" for his fishing boat, as the newer OB motors are NOT easy/cheap to be owner maintained. = Even a "tinkerer" with a repair manual, a few screwdrivers & wrenches, like me for example, can maintain/repair an "old school" BigTwin.)
