TOPIC: slow speed needle identification

slow speed needle identification 10 years 4 months ago #114368

I am rebuilding the carb on my RDS-25. I had purchased a extra carb on ebay for a good price which had the eccentric bushing on the throttle lever for WOT position adjustment. The other carb did not have this. Comparing the slow speed needles from both carbs, one had the long pointed end and the other had a blunt end. I think one is for the older carbs with a adjustable high speed needle? Which one should go into the slow speed seat, the pointed one or the blunt?

What ever carb you use, keep the needle in it that it came with.

The passage orifices and seats may be machined differently - so keep the correct parts on each carb. If it runs like crap, you can always try the other needle on it to see if it runs better

Yes the new carb ran badly which is why I am rebuilding. I read in another forum that the difference in the sharp point and the blunt one was because one of them was for the high speed circuit. I just can't remember which one was which and can't find the other forum entry either.

Low speed needle is the sharp one.
