TOPIC: G-3 project coming

G-3 project coming 10 years 2 months ago #88034

chris (seabuddy) brown is getting involved with a used G-3. It may become a restoration project or a resto-mod G-3.

Any suggestions? Please post here. Thanks.

Hi Chris,

How about some photos?... hard to make any suggestions in respect to line of text. Personally, my view is that every resto includes some level of mods, though I prefer these do not affect the lines of the boat, with the exception of the necessity for some to increase transom height. I also feel that color is of no matter, but changing the lines isn't something I would do. I made plenty of changes below the skin to increase transom strength and longevity of Bandit.

Good luck on your project!

Dean

Hmmmmm, Chris Brown and a G3. Sounds logical! A bit over due but a very good thing none the less. Glad to help any way we can Chris. Will you do a feature with updates of your work on Seabuddyonboats.com Of course we want you to post some pictures here to. We love Pictures.
I know how long you have wanted this. I think it's great.

Sorry, no photos yet.

1) I caught a cold on the back from seeing the Kids and Grand kids out on the west coast ( I live in the greater Washington DC area on the East Coast.) That was a challenge, but it is behind me now.

2) The snow and cold weather then came along. Oh, Well.

Thus the G-3 project is well delayed and I do not have even "as is" or as the wooden boat fellas say "barn find" snaps.

But, do not worry, photos will be an important part of this boat project.

I am excited and sort of jumped the gun, but I love this board and like a kid.... I had to say something.

It may go slow, lots involved.

Chris:

Happy New Year Sir and welcome back to the website!

Glad to hear you got a G-3 and plan to restore it! Like Dean and Al, I look forward to your posts and pictures. What color is the boat now and what kind of shape is it in?

Like Dean and Al, I will also be glad to help you in anyway I can.
As you know, our G-3 did not require as much work as Dean and Al's did or even our friend Mike D. But, it did take me awhile and I did learn alot from doing it. I agree with Dean on not messing with the natural lines of the G-3, but raising the transom I think is alright being that all the new outboards have 20" lower units.

Anyway, good luck on your project Chris!
