TOPIC: 4 stroke G3

Hi, Has anyone tried a 4 stroke on a G3? My favorite Lake is going 4 stroke only and I would like to keep the G3. Maybe a Honda or Suzuki 60 hp with a jack plate. I see that they weigh around 260 lbs Anyone know what a 65 650 Merc weighs? Thanks in advance JIM

Hi Jim,
My Merc 850 weighs 240 lbs, I have it mounted on a CMC Tilt and Trim unit that is about 40 lbs. I wouldnt hang any more weight than that on the back of a G3. You can see from the photo how much free board I have on the transom.

Thanks, I guess a 260lb 4 stroke and a 40lb jack plate would be a bit much. Thanks for the specs JIM

Yes, that is John's boat, but he's running a 50HP 2-stroke Merc on it.

Also JP has Factory T&T plus a hyd jack plate, gets him in the respectable mid 40's{~

Bill Anderson ran a honda on his before he sold it. I dont remember what size it was but it hauled him and his wife in the CHICAGO tour without any mishap. there should be pics somewhere here on f/g
