TOPIC: My New G3

HI, I just recently purchased a Larson G3. I think. The owner wasn't quite sure about the specifics on the boat. I'm not even sure on the year.

Its missing the HIN but there is a tag next to the steering column that says "Larson industries Model #11405 Serial# 711209

The engine is a Evinrude Starflite 100 Model#100293R, Serial# J 03974. My googleing has led me to belive it is a 1972, but I don't know much more.

There seems to be a power trim/Tilt system. There are 2 plastic lines that run to a pair of tilt cylinders, and a pressure gauge that reads 0-200PSI. There is a red tank the lines are hooked to behind the front foot rest that sort of resembles a fire extinguisher, but I havent found a pump or anything.

This is my first boat, I would appreciate any information you guys could give me.

Sounds like a homemade pneumatic tilt system. Factory systems were hydraulic. Love to see pics of the system, the MacGuyver in me is fascinated.....

It may be a Dole system, i use one on my redg3 and have a uni fit in the parts pile

I'll take some photos of the tilt in the next couple days. It is definitely home made. the tank i found IS an old fire extinguisher.

anyone have any guess on the year of the hull?

Post some more pic's of the boat also, we need lots of pic/s to give best advice, not from me of course

That is a nice looking boat!

and, yes, a pneumatic (air pressure) tilt system!!! Looks well built, maybe an early '70's aftermarket kit, or well built by a backyard mechanic. Never seen one before, so I suspect the latter, unless someone else has seen one like it.
