TOPIC: Just became a member...

Found her on CL and it was close so I convinced the wife I should at least go take a look (she reallllllly didnt want me to). The guys grandfather bought it for him 12 yrs ago and he has ran it since. It has always been stored in the garage so the paint is good. Clear coat is in need but not horrible. Transom was replaced 12 yrs ago by his uncle (marina owner, looks like he did a good job), floor and seats are perfect (the carpet has to go!). Long story short, traded a rifle and $300. Got 2 75hp motors (one is electrically dead see thread, other is parts motor), 2-3 control boxes and who knows what other parts (truck bed is full). He even had the motor hood I needed for my GW.
Plan is to get the motor running and take her out for the rest of the year. Might see what a shop would charge to reclear it over the winter.

Very nice Larson "Catalina" G-3, built by Larson after they bought out Glasspar in 1968. Good looking boat!!!!

And this is how it starts.....well 2 boats...thats not a problem.....LOL. Very cool larson, Ive wanted one for some time now but they must have not sold them around here. Ive never seen one here local.

now it starts nothing... I already had 2 watercycles, a 70 tahiti jet and a larson ski boat along with the GW. Luckily I own 5 acres I can store my stuff on. However, the Larson (19' junker) and Tahiti are both looking to meet their ends.

So when are ya comin over and picup the tunnel!!!!....lol

Hmmmm.... Wonder if that offer will still exist after the water test.

that was regarding our gw... I have a race boat Pony wants and he has the tunnel I want. No way I would trade the g3.

I already have 2,G3s and 3, Gw Invaders.....and several more. But I allways want more!!....lol

I could not imagine how much stuff I would have if I had 5 acres to store stuff on!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took her out for the first cruise. Storms were brewing so the lake was major choppy but when it was running (see below) it was like driving a sports car. Came up on plane fast and super smooth, kind of amazing for a sport boat.

for the bad... I had to keep my trip short because of motor issues. When I got there it fired right up but, before I got it off the trailer it died and wouldnt refire. I found the plugs were just screwed in so I pulled one and cleared the cylinder (and got a nice burnt arm). After that it fired and ran. I took it out to spin circles while the wife parked and found the wot was about 5mph. While she was struggling to back the trailer in I kept doing circles and all the sudden it took off like a bat out of hell. I cruised the lake for a couple mins and then it died back down. I took it to an idle and then back to wot and it went again but kept dying down and then back to wot then died down. After that it stayed at the 5mph and I limped my way back to the trailer. Ive got good spark, seems to have flame. Im wondering if either the fuel pump is going or if a fuel line was collapsing. Ideas?

I would start with all new fuel lines then a fuel pump kit. If you still got problem go trough the carbs. Clean everything in the carbs that means taking every little piece off and spraying out every passage out with carb cleaner. Then blowing out every passage. The float on these carbs should be level with the carb truned upside down.

fuel pumps replaced! Going to meet another glassic for an afternoon run.

Space.ace took his wizard out and I took the g3. Its a shallow rocky river (just ask my prop) but there was plenty of room to run in Still having motor problems, hopefully I can get it sorted this week.
