The Columbia Willamette Chapter of the A.C.B.S. invites all vintage boating enthusiasts to attend their 17th annual Classic Boat Show at Lake Oswego, Oregon.
This show, sponsored by the Oswego Heritage Council, offers several unique features that make it a “must see” event for all fans of classic boating. Lake Oswego is an upscale community south of Portland, Oregon surrounding a private lake not normally open to the public. Cleaning of the outer hull of all boats admitted to the Lake is required to eliminate the threat of invasive species. However, the cleaning is not harmful to wooden boats, and will be provided free of charge to show participants.
The Lake Oswego Show is unique among A.C.B.S shows on the West coast in that it encompasses three venues, with cruisers and a restored World War II PT boat on the Willamette River, small boats and runabouts on Oswego Lake, and a 250 vehicle collector car show at a nearby city park. A free shuttle bus operates between the three venues. These attractions combined with shopping opportunities in the adjacent upscale shopping community assure entertainment for all attendees.
The festivities begin on Friday night August 26 with a wine and appetizer reception for all boat display registrants. The next day show registrants may launch their boats on the lake and enjoy the day exploring its wide variety of architecturally significant homes and boat houses. Activities culminate in a steak and salmon dinner at the historic Oswego Heritage House museum. Judging for the numerous show trophies will occur Sunday morning August 28th followed by a water skiing show at 1:00pm, and culminating in the trophy award ceremony at 2:30 pm.
Because dock space for on- water display on Oswego Lake or the Willamette River is limited, and seating at the Saturday night dinner is similarly constrained, we encourage interested parties to register early. Registration can be accomplished on- line by going to OswegoHeritage.org /events/ Car and Boat Show. The registration fee for A.C.B.S. members is only $10 per boat, and the reservations for the Saturday night dinner is $30 per person. Fees can be paid via a secure PayPal transaction.
