J.A. (Woody) Woodson began Thunderbird Boats before forming Woodson Boats. A detailed history of how he began in boats is available on the Thunderbird page.


In the 1960s, Cruisers Inc. produced a line of models under license from Woodson Boats.


The Miami News reported in 1967 that The Fibre Glass Boat Corp. purchased Woodson Boats. This company was a division of The Brydon Corporation and J. Albert Woodson was retained as vice president of the new division. Manufacturing took place at a plant located in Coral Gables, Florida (August 23, 1967 The Miami News).
