Penn Yan Boats, Inc.

12th St.

Penn Yan, New York

Penn Yan is known for some interesting experiments in hull construction and hull coverings. The Plaston construction was a "one-piece plastic shell" over a cedar-strip hull. This was developed for wear resistance against abrasion and weathering of the cedar strip hull. The Triotite construction involved a fiberglass cloth layer laid between the inner and outer planks of their double-planked hulls. The Dynamold construction was a combination of sheet plywood and molded plywood construction.
