Viking Boat Company

Hwy 13 N.

Middlebury, Indiana

In 1958, Viking expanded its line to include four fiberglass hull models. Previously in 1957, it offered its R-15 runabout with an aluminum hull and fiberglass deck. Eldon Frasier was in charge of the fiberglass operation. Reportedly he had 14 years of fiberglass experience with Firestone. Besides boats, the fiberglass plant would produce bath tubs, tanks, liners, and mobile home parts.

In the 1971 Viking brochure included below, the company states it is 20 years old and first began manufacturing aluminum boats. Viking began offering fiberglass boats later on. In 1968, Viking was bought by Coachmen Industries and since expanded the model line to include deckboats and houseboats in addition to runabouts.

Viking Boat Corp. of Wakulla Station, Wakulla, Florida is likely an unrelated company.
