Falcon Boats

The Fitts Industries, Inc.

Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Fitts Industries was started by Frank Fitts Jr. to make furniture parts and later diversified into plywood boats around 1955 (Jun 26, 1955 Tuscaloosa News). The company he founded still exists: http://www.fitts.com/

The plywood boats made by Fitts Industries were designed by Richard C. Cole, a noted naval architect. The boats differed in construction by having aluminum strips glued to cover joints between plywood sections. This was intended to prevent rot from occurring at these joints (Jun 26, 1955 Tuscaloosa News).
