Classic California v-drive 'ski boat' powered by a 468 ci Chevy, Casale in/out (no neutral or reverse) 18% overdriven gears. A real pig when we bought it, now it looks a little better. Driven by the quickest Realtor in East Texas.
Bought this on eBay as a 20th Anniversary present for my wife. Something 'she' had always wanted? Then named Ludicrous, stern carried the warning 'Ain't No Prom Queen'. She certainly wasn't.
Butt (burning) Ugly
The nasty black paint job and black seats made it almost impossible to use if the sun was out, which is kinda when you want to use it.
We painted it white to cool things off. Used a single stage polyurethane. Soon found that the old paint held moisture that blistered the new paint. Back to the shop.
Down to the glass
Took it back to Anderson Bros. Paint & Body in Huntsville, Texas, and had it sanded all the way down to the original retro gelcoat. Looks like somebody hit something pretty hard on the left side. Yes, that's a '57 Fuelie in the background.
David Anderson painted the hull with Awlcraft 2000 2-part acrylic urethane, then overlayed the silver metallic flames.
Joe Glud at Anderson Bros. made white seat covers with red piping to cool things off.
Back on the Water

Go Fast Grannies
Mary Anne and friend Susan Thompson enjoy running around Lake Livingston in her new/old ride.
After 25 years of driving precise-handling tournament ski boats, the vague turning of the old flatbottom took some getting used to.
The 468 ci Chevy has two 600 cfm Holleys on a high-rise Weiand manifold, Mallory breakerless electronic distributor, Accel super coil and Bassett headers. Still needs a cam and head work to really make her fly.
