restore_10.jpg (11762 bytes) The finished product does float (the ultimate test for success).  The outboard is a 1978 two cylinder Evinrude 55hp retrofitted with a cowl from a 1960 Evinrude 40hp.  Such cowl changes require extensive modifications to the older cowl to fit the newer outboard.

restore_11.jpg (13733 bytes) And the motor runs too!  Off we go to explore Smith Mountain Lake (in southwestern Virginia, where this photo was taken).  Windshield is a dark smoked plastic heated and bent only for the very outer 90 degree turns.  The long span from left to right is a cold bend.  Heat supplied by the kitchen stove.
