I have 1 mil plastic hanging over the boat as a dust barrier so the topsides look like semi-gloss in the photos. Before I install the chrome, the topsides will be buffed with Meguair's #2.

There's still a lot to do and a lot of holes to be drilled since all the wood is new...makes me nervous!

She's all loaded up with chrome now! (Click to enlarge.)

Finally got the dashboard in place and mounted the circa 1917-1918 Cadillac fatman steering wheel...which was pretty tricky to do. I retained the original throttle/choke levers but had to make a mahogany ring to hold them due to the very different steering wheel.

That is so cool, There is no way you can beat the mahogany. For me it's easy to work with. Made a few of those wheel centers myself because of necessity. Started with a blank made with a large hole saw and then turned them on the lathe. Really kinda fun to do.

After about 18 months, the Dee Wite is finished. I've replaced about 95% of the wood; every single piece of varnished mahogany, inside and out, is new as well as the entire bottom and all the ribs. I've been working on it alone since last September and it's been a bitch but I think I nailed it.

Beautiful as always Jan. I can appreciate the work you put in that. Love the up to date touches with modern LED lights on the interior. Nice job on the interior bump rail. I always found it to be a bitch getting around those curves.

Great looking (and sounding) finished project. Nothing like the sound and site of a wooden inboard...just looks classy. You sure do amazing work! Thanks for sharing the "Shakedown" with us :)

Cal:

You know what Dirty Harry said, "A man's got to know his limitations." That's why I have an upholstery lady do all my interiors. There's no way I could ever do upholstery. I'm a wood man, not a seamstress.

One of my favorite Dirty Harry quotes...and I have to own my limitations...yet practice on junk stuff to improve on my limitations. Other resources are also a great way to make up for my limitations.

Look terrific Jan. Really need those trailer guides otherwise some serious damage to the bottom happens at a rough launch site. Looking forward to your next job.
