I thought it was pretty neat too..... Like the look of it, think it would be a good project to tinker with when the weather is not soo good.

Looks like a mix of materials. The bottom looks like aluminum and the top pieces are plastic/fiber. To me, it looks like someone had the bottom aluminum hull and added the white cockpit and yellow rear cowl.

There is a thread about a similar boat over on Scream and Fly, mid 70,s perhaps a SCAT Cat.

Hey Kevin,

The boat you're looking at is (I believe) a 1972-74 Hendrickson Pickle fork. Here's the story I got on it;

In or around 1972-74, a doctor with the last name of Hendrickson who lived in Kansas built a mold and made 2 of these boats. I'm not sure what ever happened to the other one, but this one survived, and is at my boat yard here in Oklahoma.

Although he was the builder, he didn't want to do a test run. So, he heard of this really crazy guy here in Oklahoma that would try anything once, so he contacted him. His name is Tom Wood. Tom raced boats at the time and said he would gladly do the test run for him.

Tom is a friend of mine and owns a company in OKC named Boat City Prop Shop. Strangly enough, he was at my boat yard a few months ago and recognized the boat. He also said that there was a good reason that he remembered the test run. He said it had an 80hp Merc. on it and that he stayed in the throttle....until he felt the boat leave the water!! Then he gradually backed-off the throttle until it made contact with the water again, and took it back to the ramp.

It is for sale and needs a little work done on it to be water ready. I've got a 75hp McCulloch that I thought about putting on it, but as usual, I just don't have the time. If you're interested in it, shoot me an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or give me a call at 405-255-1602.
